Robert Pattinson was auctioned off yesterday at the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS 2009 Cocktail Party in Cannes. At the end of a very high bidding war, Pattinson was split between two bidders who each paid $20,000 for him to give a kiss on the cheek.

Proceeds from the auction support amfAR’s work which includes AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education and sound AIDS-related public policy. Check out the article here.

AND ALSO....

There is just one more director announcement left for the Twilight saga, and that’s for Breaking Dawn. We learned the other day that they will be making a film out of the novel, but the question is, who should direct? The Los Angeles Times looks at who they think would do the best job:

With countless challenges ahead for anyone hired to helm the project, Summit would be well advised to take their buckets of cash and invest in a director who knows makeup, special effects and young love and won’t balk at the thought of a rapidly growing vampire baby. Not to mention inheriting the vampires and werewolves of past directors Catherine Hardwicke, Chris Weitz and David Slade.

Who is worthy of such a challenge?
